Coaches Report - R8

A's gusty 9 point win, B's by 23 points & C's home by 39 points

A Grade Report

A really gutsy win, full of character and commitment against a quality opponent in very tough conditions. Scores were level early in the last quarter and we played some excellent team football to get over the line.

Ryan Castellano brought the crowd to its feet with a great snap shot to set up a really fine win and see us record 5 wins in a row.

Better players were Craig Holm, who was exceptional, Tom Wigley, Scott Gilbert, Scott Paul, Drew Litster, who kicked 5 goals, Peter Baccanello and Tom Bowler. We did well to recover from the loss of Matt Footner who was in great form until injured. This left an already small side still smaller and unbalanced us.

The playing group extends its sympathy to Ben and Damien Moyle on the loss of their grandfather on Friday night. Doug would've been very proud of how both boys honoured his memory on Saturday.

B Grade Report

After a tight first half in trying conditions with the rain belting down in the second term, the B Grade managed to run all over PHOS in the second half to outscore them 4.11 to 3 points to record a solid victory. Again we were terrifically competitive and finally managed to kick away and record a much deserved win.

Acting captain Jonathon Trenorden led the way with his hardness at the ball and a long goal on the qtr time siren. Josh Clothier and Tom Taylor continually drove us forward and dominated stoppages. Our tall forwards in Julian Ryan, Alex Mckenzie, Dale Sheedy and Dave Eckert were energetic and handled the conditions superbly. Down back Tim Felice and Daniel Trimboli were skilled and poised in difficult conditions.

Our run and ball use was terrific after half time and something to build on and bring into this weeks game v Modbury.

From a greater club point of view our condolences to Ben and Damien Moyle and the Moyle family on the loss of their grandfather on Friday night.

C Grade Report

The C's today made the water bag trek down Anzac Highway to play PHOS Camden. The Phantoms had won their last two so this was a real danger game, but a terrific first quarter set us on the way to a solid win. Kicking with the breeze we played direct, committed football to pile on eight goals to one and establish a match winning break. The first quarter was like a Paul Arnfield highlight reel as he dominated the forward line and kicked five stellar goals. After quarter time the two teams were evenly matched with both sides competing well in difficult conditions. Apart from a complacent patch in the second quarter the C's stuck to the task, battled hard and played consistently good football.

Better players on the day were Matt Zamparelli who controlled the wet ball brilliantly and ran riot in the midfield, Cheesy who kicked seven goals and added a touch of class to the game, Murph who was great in the ruck, Bobby Sandland who was constructive and creative in the centre and Daniel Baillie whose work rate was outstanding.
