A Grade Report

We ventured away to Flinders Park with another four changes to our lineup due to injury in what is becoming a repetitive story. To the players' credit, we continue to play solid team football and we were able to work our way to a useful lead at halftime. We dominated the third quarter but didn't quite put it on the scoreboard however, even though they came back in the last, we never looked like losing. Better players were Anthony Medhurst in his 150th game, Ryan Holm, Peter Baccanello, Tom Wigley, Scott Gilbert, Scott Paul and Matt Footner. Congratulations also to Tom Moore on his 100th game. Our backline were superb all day, but I'd like to see our forwards more efficient in the weeks ahead. The next block of five games is against the top sides and will tell the story of our year.

B Grade Report

Again the B grade suffered another close loss. In a very tight and competitive competition such tight losses are critical. We dominated the first 15 minutes of the game but could only manage 1.4 instead of 4.1 which may well have killed the contest. We let them back in the game and the first 3 goals they kicked were as a direct result of basic skill errors by us. Again in the 3rd term we went to sleep for 10 minutes and they managed to get a 3 goal break and in the end that was too much for us despite dominating the run of play in the final term. Unfortunately our tall forwards couldn't take their chances and missed marks in goal scoring areas which proved costly and our small forwards didn't work hard enough to get to crumbing positions to attack the goalfront.

Josh Clothier and Mark Green were tough and creative at half back. Trent Versace, Jonathon Trenorden and Ton Taylor worked collectively to drive us forward with purpose and in his 50th game for the club Dave Eckert competed strongly in the air, kicked 2 but had other opportunities and was our most dangerous forward on the day.

C Grade Report

On the back of three consecutive wins the C's faced the unbeaten Flinders Park in round 7. The game quickly developed into a terrific contest as both teams played strong competitive football. Flinders Park looked dangerous in space and going forward and the challenge for the C's was to maintain intensity and continue to apply pressure. To the players credit the team rose to the challenge and played four quarters of inspired football. In easily our best effort for the season we held on for a thrilling and nail biting three point win.

The C's had several fantastic contributors on the day but some of the stand outs included Patrick Murphy who shut down their star ruckman, Alex Sawley who gave us a strong target at centre half forward, Paul Whitford who "towelled up" their full forward, Paul Arnfield whose influence was pronounced, Hayden Edwards who provided class and run, Hugh Ratcliffe who excelled on the ball and Tom Ratcliffe who was outstanding across half back.

This was a fabulous win for the team and leaves us at 5 and 2 going into another crucial game against PHOS Camden.
