Matthew Dawes has reluctantly decided to step down & Tom Wigley appointed new senior coach
The club is pleased to announce Tom Wigley as the senior club coach effective immediately with Dawesy staying on as his assistant playing coach.
After much deliberation, Matthew Dawes has reluctantly decided to step down as ROCS' Senior Coach.
Despite having greatly enjoyed his role as player/coach, Dawesy would like people to understand that he only take things on that he is able to put everything into. With the addition of a recent third child, Dawesy feels the commitment to family life and senior coach positions would result in him being unable to perform either to the best of his ability.
Dawesy's work ethic, communication skills and knowledge of the game, ensured he would be the role model the players would look up to, and clearly, he has been chiefly responsible for the club consolidating it's Div.1 status in 2012.
The club is pleased to announce Tom Wigley as the senior club coach effective immediately with Dawesy staying on as his assistant playing coach.
After closely looking at what options were available, the decision was made to approach Wigs. As expected, lengthy discussions have shown Tom to have a great knowledge of the game, sets very high standards, and possesses a healthy respect for the ROCS Community.
He promises to be an enthusiastic, popular and successful Club Coach, and we wish him all the best for 2013, and beyond.
On behalf of myself and the entire ROCS community I would like to thank Dawesy for and outstanding year as head coach and would like to welcome Tom Wigley to coaching and wish them both well for the season ahead.
Dawesy and Wigs will explain in further detail to the club as a whole at next weeks presentation.
