Coaches Report - R13
C's now uploaded - A's drop game at home against the form team Walkerville - B's and C's record impressive wins
A Grade Report - R13
We were never in the game and were comprehensively outplayed by a well organised, physically committed Walkerville team which handled the conditions much better than we did. We never looked like matching them, which was disappointing, as few players really made much contribution at all. Scott Gilbert and Anthony Medhurst were notable exceptions.
Other better players were Will O'Malley, Luke Manuel, Matt Dawes and Ben Moyle on a day where we struggled to play with any fluency and movement.
This week's game is a crucial contest at SPOC. Hopefully, we will have some players back, however, we need a much more committed effort if we want to earn success. We look forward to a continued good level of support as we try to build our season.
Congratulations to Jonathon Trenorden on his 50th game. Jonno plays with a level of desperation which is outstanding and is an excellent club man.

B Grade Report
This weeks game against Walkerville was the best four quarter effort for the year and we were able to score a very important 25 point win. What makes the win even more impressive is that Walkerville are sitting second, only having lost to first place Adelaide Uni and we had 7 players out from last weeks winning side.
The game was tight and hard in the first quarter and we were very committed to the contest and used the ball really well. What was really pleasing was that we kept our composure when under pressure and didn't panic. We kicked the last two goals of the quarter and went in with a well deserved 9 point lead at quarter time.
Walkerville kicked the first to regain the lead at the start of the second quarter, but again our players worked hard, hunting the ball in numbers and continuously applying pressure to the opposition. Our intensity saw us kick the next three goals of the quarter and took a very handy 23 point lead into half time.
We continued to work hard in the third quarter and while we broke even in the contests around the ground, Walkerville were able to finish off on the scoreboard better. Walkerville scored 2 goals for the quarter while we were able to score 2 behinds and take a 13 point lead into the last change. Walkerville's accuracy on goal 6-0, to Rostrevor's score of 7-7 at three quarter time, had kept them in the contest.
The commitment and fierce attack on the ball for the first three quarters were starting to take its toll as we were reduced to 17 fit men at the start of the last quarter. Tim Felice had to go to the unfamiliar position of full back and JD Derrington came off the ball to hold down centre-half back. The men showed great guts and courage in the last quarter, to not only hold on, but outscore Walkerville in the last term and finish full of running. When Henry Schilling ran down from half-back to kick his first goal deep into the last quarter, the team had secured a gutsy and important win.
There are times when a coach will say all played well, but I really did mean it after the game. Every player played an important role in the team being able to produce a committed four quarter effort. The back line comprising of Schilling, Hanna, O'Connor, Holland, Kelly, McDonough and Cialini were tight and ruthless. It was a testament to them to only allow the second placed team in the competition 7 scoring shots for the game.
Best players were hard to single out and thats really pleasing that we are playing great footy as a team and not relying on a couple of players to dominate to influence a result. 5th best went to DJ Derrington who played his most consistent game for the club this year. He worked hard as an on-baller and stood up really well when needing to help the backline out in the last quarter. 4th best went to Dan Gilbert who gets better as the year progresses. His willingness to run and his competitive nature always throws himself into contests. He was very important playing a kick behind the play at different stages in the game. 3rd best went to our number one rover Tom Taylor. The ground was a little slippery and wet and this suits TJ down to a tee. He loves getting in and under the contest and used the ball really well today. Captaincy went to Trent Verace today with Jonno Trenorden rewarded for his good form in the b-grade and going up to the A's. Trent also had to fill in Jonno's role playing centre and did it superbly, getting the ball on quickly and getting the ball out of congestion on many occasions. Best player today was Reece Digance who came back into the side after playing a game in the C's last week after recovering from a hamstring injury. Reece played centre-half forward and was a great presence all day. He contested strongly and gave us a great avenue to goal.
With SPOC as our next opponent, we need to remain focussed and prepare well for another important contest. SPOC sit 3rd at the moment and will be another big test for us.

C Grade Report
ROCS C-Grade kicked off a massive triple header for the Rostrevor Football Club Vs Walkerville at the home of footy ROC Park. In cold and overcast conditions the ROCS team has a good 1st quarter to lead by a point, ROCS 3.2 to Walkerville 3.1 at quarter time.
The ROCS boys regrouped at ¼ time and took the game to another level with brilliant running and team football. The team displayed their usual vigour and hunger for the contest and the ball, and except for wasteful kicking at goal could easily have set up a large advantage. At one stage the team had 8 or 9 handballs to quickly move the ball from defence into an attack in a slick attacking move to slam home a goal. All you could do as a spectator was applaud the ROCS on some exceptional team play. The second quarter ended with ROCS 6.7 to Walkerville 4.2.
During the half time break the team was asked for a “real” premiership quarter and didn’t let anyone down. The ROCS team kept their promise and continued with devastating team football to completely take the game over and slammed home 4.1 to 0,1. The way the boys play for each other is very encouraging and they must continue in this fashion to pressure for a top three finish to the season. ¾ time scores were ROCS 10.8 to Walkys 4.3
The start of the last quarter was very similar stuff with the ROCS kicking another three goals in quick time. Walkerville, who had never given up and had tested our boys all day started to dominate the last part of the quarter and had many scoring shots but were off target when it mattered. With the foot well off the gas pedal our boys limped to the line but had done more than enough to secure victory. Final scores were ROCS 14.9.93 to Walkerville 5.8.38.
Even in a superb team effort there were players to stand out. Carlisle “Bobcat” Jones continued his outstanding ruck play to be best afield. The Bobcats second and third efforts were a joy to watch and he is really enjoying his return to the club. There was also a scintillating display from another of our foreign legion, Scott “Grizzly” Adams. Let loose after quarter time Grizzly put on a great crumbing forwards display to finish off his team-mates efforts and kick 4 goals. The Griz was at the fall of the ball and his finishing skills are what our team has been lacking most of the season. The great man our captain Simon “Hambone” Emanuele showed why he is highly regarded as a top class defender, he is fearless in his approach to all contests and is an inspiration to his team-mates Deon “Legga Mutton” Leggert again played with confidence and was a damaging player on a wing or running as an on baller. Legga has really fitted in well with the team and he plays a crucial role for the ROCS.
Two other on-ballers to have a huge effect on the game were Rhys “Wombat” Davies and Eamonn “Snitzel” Ansell. They were around everything and made it very difficult for their opponents after quarter time. Daniel “Bails” Baillie played his usual hard at the ball rovers game and was awarded the Best Team Man award. Bails is a very important part of our on ball setup and will be sorely missed at the end of the season. Great improvements and big games were also shown by Gary “Velvet” Velez, Sam “Funky” Millard (1 Goal), Matt “Zamps” Zamparelli (1 Goal) and Nick “Bid Nick” Rendell (3 Goals).
Two of our other Nicks, Nick “Swinna” Swincer and Nick “Bang Bang” Bartold played great games and helped their team immensely. Bang Bang always competes at CHF and Swina was used in defence in this game to great effect, displaying terrific awareness to set the ROCS up from defence. Swina even managed to slam home a goal!
Next week sees the ROCS C-Grade take on third placed SPOC in another triple header.
