A's B's and C's all record wins against Port Districts in R8

A Grade Report - R8

A tough contest where they had big bodies around the ball and we lacked real skill and decisiveness. We had four changes losing Baccanello, Castellano, Sheedy and Craig Holm from last week then we lost Will O'Malley in the first quarter. Michael Aloisi was back and contributed well, Tom Birch, Sam Bowler came in and did likewise and Oliver Bowler made his debut and kicked the winning goal.

We were 10 points behind with 6 minutes to go with Port District having all the momentum but we showed good character to refuse to lose kicking late goals to fet over the line.

Better players were Chris Pahl, Ben Birch, Ryan Holm, Tom Birch and Paul Fantasia. We now have a big challenge against Payneham-Norwood Union before the midseason break.

B Grade Report - R8

The reserves notched up their second win for the year with a good solid 4 quarter effort against Port Districts on Saturday. It was pleasing to win every quarter and the players rewarded for some good efforts, not only from Saturday's game, but for the improvement we are showing over the past month. It was one of those performances where everyone played well being hard at the contest and continuously put the opposition under pressure.

The real improvement was our commitment to run and support at the contests and using the voice for instruction for our teammates.

Playing disciplined footy, we were able to keep the forward lines open and our skill level going into the forward line was a lot better. The quick movement into the forward line saw us register our highest score for the year and we were able to share the goal scoring around 8 different players.

Special mentions must go to Henry Schilling for his first game back from a knee injury in round one was very good from half-back. Chuck Norris returned from injury and helped organise the backline well. Chris Ash continues to improve in ruck and moving around the ground well. Eammon Hanna in his second game for the year dominated his positions in the back line and Dave Eckert also continued his good form from the past couple of weeks.

Best players awards this week went to John Harrison who kicked 5 goals in three quarters before injuring his hamstring, was awarded 5th best, taking some good strong marks and presenting well from the forward line. 4th best was Patrick Murphy who was very influential to our young side providing plenty of voice, instruction and passion in ruck. Andy O'Connor played his best game for the year and has cemented a spot off half-back providing plenty of run and putting his body on the line in some hard contests. Jonno Trenorden was second best, again leading from the front with his attack on the ball and never say die attitude at every contest. Best player on the ground was clearly Tom Taylor who was sensational in his roving duties around the ground and chipped in with 4 goals when resting in the forward line. Tommy has been getting better each week and he grew in confidence as the game continued.

While we enjoyed the win, we know that we need to maintain momentum and continue against Payneham this week. The win should give us a lot of confidence heading into this weeks game.
