Week 1 Finals Report

Week 1 of Finals

After finishing minor round premiers, the ROCS A grade had the week off, whilst the B and C's were away to Goodwood Saints in their respective Qualifying Finals.

Coach Stevo Edwards would have been happy with the way the C Grade kept battling against a tough opponent, on their home ground. ROCS eventually ran out winners 10.11 to 6.10, and will now meet minor premiers Modbury in the 2nd Semi-Final. Michael De Palma continues to improve, and was adjudged best on ground.  John "Spoz" McCarron rarely plays a bad game, Marcus Quinn dominated all day, whilst Tom O'Leary , Jake Bowler and Blake Mios (3 goals) were all valuable contributors.

The B Grade worked hard all day, but were eventually defeated in the final moment of the game : 8.6 to 9.1.
Down by 4 points at the main break, ROCS had a strong third quarter to lead 6.6 to 5.1 at three quarter time. "Polky" was proud of his player's efforts, although obviously bitterly disappointed with the loss. Scott "Scooter" Gilbert was a standout, 2017 B Grade medallist Zac Noonan was again prominent, and Anthony "The Prez" Medhurst was rock-solid. Jack Nelligan and Beau Williamson were others to play well, and get plenty of the ball. Congratulations to Jack Tagg on playing his 50th game for the club. The B's now need to quickly re-group, before facing Prince Alfred OC in this week's knockout 1st Semi-Final.

At this stage our 3 teams will all be at home for this week's round of finals. The A's will play Tea Tree Gully in the 2nd Semi-Final, with the winner going straight through to the Grand Final. Ideally the club will have 3 wins this weekend, and play its last game on the Campbelltown Memorial Oval before the ground is re-developed.

All the players will be hoping the ROCS's army is out in force this Saturday to offer its support.
